There are a number of ways for elementary students to learn to write.  I think hte best approach is to take a Writers Workshop view to teaching writing with a mini lesson and lots of actual writing.

Writing can be a difficult subject to teach from home.  Homeschool parents often find themselves in power struggles when grading their student’s writing. They also worry that they might be leaving vital gaps in the teaching.
